Can having ear infections or sickness make a child rewet his pants and bed at nite? his been having ear problems for a few month and started to miss going to the toilet for poos and wees his 4 now and will start school next year so i'm worried his gone backwards.
It is not unusual for children to experience a regression in their development if they have experienced an ongoing illness – particularly if this occurs not long after they have attained this skill. In terms of his daytime wetting – when he starts to feel better you may find that he reverts back to using the toilet, if not you may need to revisit some of the strategies you were using when you first toilet trained him – remember to be patient as it is probably as frustrating for him as it is for you. I would not be concerned about his bedwetting as this will come once he has his daytime wetting back under control. If he continues to wet himself during the day it is a good idea to get him checked by your doctor as he may have a urinary tract infection that needs to be treated.
