Should his dad be putting a nappy on at night if he doesn't wear one at his mums
Hi Faith, when children are under a shared care arrangement it is important to try and adopt as consistent a pattern of parenting as possible. In saying this, it is also important to ensure that all parties feel comfortable with the situation and should not feel forced to adopt a measure that they are not comfortable with. Whether your son wears DryNites or not, it is important that he feels secure and confident and understands that his bedwetting is perfectly normal and in no way his fault. It is not particularly unusual for children to not wet at night when they experience sleepovers or go away on holidays. This sometimes occurs, as they tend to sleep less deeply when they are not in their usual bed. If you are at all concerned about his pattern of wetting or you feel it it may be an indicator of stress, you need to discuss this with your GP who may refer you to a child psychologist. In the meantime reassure him that both of you love him very much, and that you are there for him.
Regards,
Dr Cathrine
