my son's 6 y. & he's bed wetting since we started toilet training at the age of nearly 2 y. &6 mon.
recently we took him to the doctor and make x-rays &urine analysis & it was ok, he's taking minirin tab. .2 mg and i want to know if it's ok to wake him up once at night to let go to the toilet and if this medication is going to take alot of time may be months or so? thank you
Hi Eman – lifting or waking is typically not recommended as a form of treatment as it does not teach children to wake on their own and can be stressful and disruptive to both parents and children. If you are at all concerned about him wetting the bed while taking Minirin you can always put him into DryNites. Minirin is designed to reduce the volume of urine produced at night. While it has been known to stop bedwetting among some children it is very common for the bedwetting to return as soon as the medication is stopped. It is important that you discuss with your doctor what levels your son should be on and the length of time he or she wants your son to remain on the drug, keeping in mind that not all children are able to achieve dryness with it’s use.

Dr Cathrine
