I had him go to the toilet every hour on Sunday but he still managed to wet himself 5 times. Would the dry nightes help him during the day at school. He is quite embrassed to mention it to anyone so he stays in his wet pants most of the day. I went and spoke to the school today so they are now aware of it, and are going to monitor it.
Unfortanately he was born with a pancreas that was not working properly and had fluid balance charts and tablets to assist with urination, he would go up to five days with out going to the toilet. Now it seems to be the reverse.
I am out of ideas to assist my son, and would love any advise you can provid for me.
Thankyou again

Hi Katrina – DryNites are certainly fine to be worn both day and night and would be a great way to help your son manage his daytime incontinence. Any form of daytime wetting certainly puts children at risk of being teased by their peers so our ultimate goal is to ensure he feels confident and secure without being plagued by concerns that he will somehow be ‘found out’! Encourage him to change his DryNites regularly, that way he avoids developing any sort of noticeable odour as well as reducing the chance of leakage. If he is at all concerned about the sound the pants make he could always carry lollies in his pocket, which can account for any ‘rustling’ noise. You should discuss this with his teacher so that he has someone to go to if needed. Continue to provide him with lots of support and encouragement, while reassuring him that this is not his fault. You play a very important role in ensuring he continues to feel good about himself and that his incontinence does not impact on his self-esteem.
Regards,
Dr Cathrine
