Any form of daytime wetting after the age of 5 years needs to be addressed by your doctor. Constipation and bladder infections are causes of daytime wetting. Chronic constipation is also a common but often unrecognised cause of nighttime wetting. While doctors typically recommend holding off until children are 7 years of age before commencing treatment, we need to be careful in adopting a “one size fits all” approach. If children are upset by their bedwetting then it is time to assume a more active role. The first step is to make an appointment with your GP to test for any underlying medical cause for your son’s daytime and nighttime wetting. In the meantime I would recommend using DryNites rather than Pull-Ups – these are more suited to your son’s age-group and have much higher absorbency. Good luck!
