We are indeed look forward to our 10 year old son getting dry very soon. Do you have any advice or comment on his current condition?

Our son has just turned 10 years old. He has never been dry at night all these years. However, we see that he has been dry on most nights now, although there are still some nights where he would be be wet. Do you have any advice or comment on his current condition ? We are indeed look forward to our son getting dry very soon... and he is looking forward to this happen as well.

Dr Cathrine Answered:

this is a very exciting development for both you and your son. A significant reduction is the number of nights a child wakes-up wet is one of the best indicators that permanent dry nights are just around the corner! Whatever you are doing keep it up – continue to encourage healthy bladder habits by making sure he drinks plenty of water throughout the day (about 6-8 glasses), eats lots of fresh fruit and vegetables to avoid constipation and limit the amount of sugary and caffeinated drinks he consumes. Be sure to celebrate each small success but keep in mind that even after he has achieved nighttime continence accidents will happen from time to time particularly if he has had an extremely busy day filled with activity and excitement.
