My little boy is nearly four years old & doesn't wake up at all during the night if he needs to got to the toilet. I put a nappy on him everynight & most nights he wets though that too. Is it too early to think about an alarm or should I just see what happens over the next 12mths or so, as I know he's still young. I'm not too stressed about the situation yet - I was just wondering how long I should leave it.
typically we recommend that parents wait until their child has turned 6 years of age before they consider bedwetting treatments. The reason for doing this is there is a high spontaneous cure rate up to this age. I usually recommend to parents that once their child starts school and is still wetting the bed on a regular basis it is a good idea to follow-up with their GP. As long as you continue to feel OK about the situation and it doesn’t become an issue for either you or your son it is fine to carry on as you are. I would however recommend that you put him in DryNites rather than nappies at night – this will not only help with the leakage issue but it will help him to feel better about himself – you can tell him that these are something big boys wear to bed!
