Dr Cathrine Answered:

Hi Ellen, while bedwetting can be incredibly distressing for parents please be reassured that it is perfectly normal for your daughter to still be wetting the bed at night. It is not unusual for children to continue to sleep through even after they have wet the bed. A very deep sleep pattern has been linked to children’s bedwetting as this makes it difficult for children to respond to signals sent from their bladder to their brain that their bladder is full and needs to be emptied. Wearing absorbent pants like DryNites can be a great way to manage her bedwetting as they reduce the stress associated with waking up wet and ensures both you and your daughter get a good night sleep free from disruptions. If you are at all concerned about the amount of urine she is producing then I would recommend that you speak with your GP who can runs some tests just to make sure there are no underlying physical causes.

Regards,
Dr Cathrine
