Bedwetting can certainly be a complex and challenging issue and having to deal with constant wet sheets only adds to the stress of the situation. Have you tried discussing the reasons why she doesn’t want to wear the DryNites? Many children often associate these with nappies so it is important to point out the differences, explaining that even some children in high school wear them at night. You could encourage her independence by allowing her to put them on and off by herself (just like undies), then disposing of them in the morning when she wakes. You could also discuss some of the challenges of not wearing DryNites so that she understands your perspective. The fact that she is able to occasionally make it through the night without wetting is encouraging and a good sign that her bladder is learning to store the amount of urine her kidneys are producing overnight. It is not unusual for parents of children who wet the bed to comment on the fact that their children are able to stay dry when on holidays or attending sleepovers. While there is no clear medical explanation for this it has been suggested that children may sleep less soundly when away from home and therefore wake more easily in response to a full bladder.
