No Sleepovers
My eldest girl has rarely been dry at night. She is now 7 and a half. She has always been bright, creative, sensitive and intelligent. She had no issue reaching most milestones but toilet training was a major headache. When she was nearly 5 we saw a doctor who used strategies that successfully saw her start school dry. We maintained nappies each night though as they were always soaking wet in the morning. By the time she was 6 we started using an alarm and it seemed to work for 4 months, but then the bedwetting started again nightly. This time the alarm failed to have any effect. We started waking her up in the late evening - it meant that sometimes she made it through to morning in dry pyjamas, but she became increasingly moody during the days. So we started using Drynites - which she found embarrassing at first. Her little sister had become consistently dry at night by 5 years old and this is disheartening for my eldest, as are the frequent invitations for sleepovers from her friends - and we can't tell them the reason why she can't go; they think she has a really mean mummy!! It's a problem, because she is so conscious about it now (even though we stress to her that she is normal) she even hides the Drynites before her friends come around. We are going back to the doctor who helped with the toilet training - apparently he is good.... let's hope!!
