6yo girl has never had a dry night
My daughter has just turned 6 and is still wearing pull ups at night. I worry that I haven't made enough effort to get her dry at night but I never really had to do anything with my son.
He had dry nights not long after he came out of nappies during the day. I tried a couple of times to take my daughter out of pull ups but sometimes I was getting up a twice a night to change her sheets. Sometimes she would wake up when she wet the bed but other times she would sleep through and the sheets would almost be dry. I tried for 2 weeks and got sick of changing sheets every night so went back to pull-ups. I'm worried that leaving her in pull-ups means neither of us are making the effort to have a dry night. I did have a bedwetting problem myself when I was younger and recall having to take tablets to prevent it. I have read that genetics play a big part in it so I'm aware that could be part of the problem. I really feel like I need to take action now but I don't want to make it a huge issue for my daughter. Of course there are plenty of mothers out there who are full of advice for me and tell me I 'have got to be tough'. They are usually the mothers who haven't had a problem with bedwetting at all so assume that I am doing something wrong and being too slack. These sorts of attitudes make me feel like I have to hide the fact that my daughter still wears pull-ups and then I am embarrassed buying them at the supermarket worried that someone I know will see me and then realise that my daughter is at school at still in pull-ups. I hope there are other mothers out there feeling the way I do.
