Hi my boy is soon to turn 7. He suffers from diabetes insipidus, what is the likelihood that he will ever be able to manage his bladder/bowels?

Dr Cathrine Answered:

As diabetes insipidus (DI) has a number of causes, the outcome really depends on the underlying disorder. I would strongly recommend that you discuss this further with your son’s pediatrician who will be more familiar with his condition. Given your son’s condition you may be entitled to access financial support through the new Continence Aids Payment Scheme (CAPS). For more information on this and to check your eligibility just click on the link provided on the left-hand side of DryNites homepage (www.drynites.com.au).
