Carer of disabled and troubled nephews.

Over the years I have been the primary respite carer for 4 nephews, two who are autistic, one with central auditory processing disability and another who is too much of a boy for his mother to handle in a cramped suburban environment.

One major problem in taking the kids anywhere is bed wetting and other people's attitudes and insensitivity to the child who wets. Whether you stay at camps or other relations houses. The insensitive ones believe all the myths and misinformation in regards to bed wetting and make some very inaccurate and often insulting or demeaning assumptions as to why the child wets.

The child is often more capable than people realise and can take full responsibility for their wetting themselves, so long as you remain supportive and keep in touch with relevant clinics or medical practitioners. The children can make choices for themselves about themselves and this is where i have had the best success in helping kids overcome or deal with bed wetting.
