There are thousands of people, including teenagers and adults, who wet the bed at night while they are asleep. This is not conscious wetting and therefore in no way your fault. The most likely reason for wetting is that you are having difficulty in waking from sleep when your bladder is full. This may be because you are in a particularly deep sleep, which may occur if your overtired, alternatively teenagers can sometimes wet the bed when they are stressed or anxious. You do not mention in your question whether this is something recent or you have been experiencing this over a number of years. A sudden onset of bedwetting after years of being dry may be an indicator of some underlying medical condition or it may result from stress or anxiety so it is essential that you have this checked by your doctor. There are a number of very effective treatments currently available so it would be a good idea to discuss these with your doctor or asked to be referred to a continence specialist who is especially trained in supporting children, who experience bedwetting. You should not feel like you need to manage this on your own – there is a lot of support available.
