My son age 12 is wetting since birth, and he refuses to wake up in night to pass urine. Please advice how to control as he will be going to high school next year.
as frustrating as this may be let me reassure you that you are not alone – it’s highly likely that there’s at least one other mother of a child in your son’s class experiencing similar things to yourself. The first thing to do is schedule an appointment with your GP or a continence advisor to discuss treatment options. There are a number of treatments currently available – some of these are outlined on the DryNites website – it would be worthwhile reading about these so that you can discuss the pros and cons when speaking with your doctor. One of the most important things when it comes to bedwetting is the family’s attitude toward the child. It is very important that you understand that the bedwetting is not something he has a lot of control over. Just as people cannot help snoring in their sleep, he cannot help wetting the bed. It is important that you provide lots of reassure and encouragement – particularly during treatment. It is great that you are dealing with this now before he enters high school and is interested in attending sleepovers and school camps.
