It's gotten so bad that it's to the point were I was outside of my house and I had to go to the bathroom. I was trying to put the key in the lock but I wasn't fast enough so I wet my pants.
Hi Alex, wetting the bed can be very frustrating but it’s important that you know that this is not your fault, it is completely normal and you are not alone. Because it can be very embarrassing most people don’t like to talk about it but it would not surprise me if there were other children you know who still wet their beds too! Sometimes parents get angry with their children because they do not completely understand the causes of bedwetting. There are a number of reasons why you might still be wetting the bed – and being lazy is not one of them. Different bodies are good at different things, while some people are really good at swimming or dancing, other people seem to have bladders that are better at holding urine – this difference is what makes each of us interesting and unique! If you have not already done so it is important that you ask your parents to take you to see your GP, bedwetting and daytime accidents can sometimes be the result of a medical condition so it is very important that this is ruled out first. You should talk to your doctor about the different things you can do to help you to become dry. Try not and let you bedwetting stop you from doing fun things like having friends stay over – many children attend sleepovers and hide their bedwetting by wearing DryNites. Wearing an oversized nightie or layered sleepwear is one way to hide them. Some children find wearing their regular undies over the top of their DryNites also reduces any sound. You can also place your DryNites at the bottom of your sleeping bag or bed so that you can put these on once everyone is in bed. Good Luck!

Dr Cathrine
