Your bedwetting stories: boys

Bedwetting Mum

I prefer to give myself the label as being a ‘bedwetting mum’ rather than saying my son is a bed wetter. I’m able to deal with the emotions that go with that label far better than my 7 year old boy. Sadly his father (my ex) does not have much compassion for his situation and gets him into trouble, humiliates and teases him every time he stays over on his alternate weekends. I sometimes feel as if all the good work I do every day of the week is destroyed in one foul swoop every fortnight. My son returns dejected and angry at himself because he’s “a baby” like his dad tells him.

My ex is his own worst enemy as he refuses to allow him to wear “his nappy” as he calls it (ie DryNites) because he thinks this will somehow snap him out of it. But of course it’s not the case and he wets the bed and ends up having a rubbish night sleep and comes home tired and cranky.

I will continue to be the ‘good mum’ and support him through this phase. Hopefully it’s not too long – for his sake.

I’ll be sending him to his father’s house next weekend with some information from here about kids and how for most of them it just takes time. Perhaps if it comes from a credible source he’ll believe it rather than from the nagging fishwife, an ex at that.

Power to all the bedwetting mums!!!!!
