Your bedwetting stories: boys
Bedwetting Success
I have 3 children, each having gone through the process of toilet training quite differently. My youngest a boy, and eldest, a girl had little trouble graduating from nappies to undies with a brief period of using training pants in between. My daughter was fully day and night trained well before her 3rd birthday and my son still having some wet nights around his 3rd birthday. He was then dry at night by 3½ all by himself.
My second, however, was quite different. A boy, he was still in nappies until he was three, mastering day training by 3½ just in time for preschool, but night training seemed a long way off. How far off I had no idea. He went into DryNites at 4 – more for the social and emotional reasons rather than any signs of readiness. He was ‘too big’ for nappies, but hardly ever dry at night and would wake up sopping wet in the morning.
We then used DryNites until he turned 7½. For social reasons such as sleepovers at a friend’s house – I felt more drastic measures were needed. I saw my GP who said that she had the same experience with her son and that an alarm system had worked for him.
I outlaid the $100 for a moisture sensitive alarm and had several sleepless and broken sleep nights. I was told that the average length of time that it might take to see positive results was about 8 weeks. But to my amazement 6 days later he was no longer a bed-wetter.
