My boy with Down Syndrome

For any of you out there who have a disabled child you already know the joys and excitement that comes with each achievement or meeting a milestone. My son has Down syndrome and I can’t tell you the excitement that goes through the house when he even attempts something new or actually does something independently.

Just last week he wrote his name for the first time. You should have seen his face as he brought it out of school to show me. There were plenty of tears and laughter and I don’t think I’ve ever seen him so proud of himself.

You may be wondering why I’m here, well despite all the great achievements he’s made we are not even close to achieving toilet training during the day or night. He still has lots of accidents during the day so we always wear Pull-Ups when we are out and about or he is at school etc and at night we haven’t even attempted to go without DryNites. I’m wondering if there are any other mums of kids with Down syndrome that have any ideas, advice or even there own experience so I don’t feel like I’m doing something wrong to share with me.

Thanks for the space to do this.
