They know it’s not your fault.

Handy Tips for boys away from home
Cricket camp, rugby tour, school camp or just a sleep over at a friend’s can present a challenge unless you’re prepared. With just a little bit of planning, things will run smoothly.
If you’re using DryNites® Pyjama Pants the only worry you have is about how to get them on and off discreetly.
Here are a few tips for when you are away:
- Pack your overnight bag with your DryNites pants already positioned into your PJ pants. So all you need to do is hold them together and slip them on. Or,
- Try and find a toiletry bag that has a discreet side pocket for your DryNites to fit into. Then you can go to the bathroom just before bedtime to clean your teeth and simply change into your pants. Or,
- If you have a sleeping bag you can always try and slip them on while you’re in your sleeping bag. It can be a bit of a challenge but it can be done. Then you can take them off and into a plastic bag at the bottom of the bag. Just remember to put the plastic bag and the DryNites pants in before you roll up the sleeping bag.
- It’s probably not worth risking the attempt to stay awake until everyone else is asleep. You may find that you doze off yourself.
- Pack some moist wipes so that you can have a quick wipe down in the morning if there’s no opportunity to have a shower.
- Pack an extra pair of pyjamas just in case.
- Take a plastic bag with you so that you can either throw your DryNite® in the bin at your friend’s house or bring it home and throw it out later.
- Here are a few back up ideas just in case you do have an accident and forget to put on your DryNite pyjama pants: o Keep a can of drink handy so that you can always open it and say you spilled some. Or, o Keep some water in a bottle and spill some on your shirt as well and say that you’re really hot and sweaty.
- Often a sporting tour can involve long coach trips. If it’s likely that you may fall asleep you will need to think about using some sort of protection for the trip.
- Remember that you may be worried about wetting at night, but your friends may be in the same boat or they might have other worries, like a fear of the dark, being worried about being away from home, sleep talking or nightmares. All kids have concerns at different times in their lives. If you show that you can help and support them they will probably accept that you have a worry too.
- Wetting the bed does not make you weak, a ‘girl’ or uncool. It’s just something that happens at night and then you can walk away from it for the day.
