Hi, my son is 3 and a half. He has stopped wearing nappies at night 4 months ago and hardly never wet his bed since (once a month). But since we have moved house he has started to wet his bed every night. We asked him how he feels in his new house/bedroom and he said he likes it better than the previous house/bedroom. What should we do or tell him to help him through this?

A return to bedwetting can be the result of a number of different factors. While physical causes are rare, it is always important to have children checked by a GP just to rule them out. Stress can also lead to nighttime wetting. Children often experience stress when they experience significant changes in their lives such as moving house. These changes are not necessarily negative but can certainly result in increased anxiety or stress. If stress is a contributing factor then we typically find children stop wetting at night when they learn to cope or adjust to the change. Kind Regards, Dr Cathrine
