My daughter who was 8 in February of this year, she still wets through the night, some nights quite heavily leaking onto her sheets. I am wondering at what age is it recommended I seek a professional opinion just to make sure everything is ok? Regards Melissa

Dear Melissa,Given both the frequency of your daughter's wetting as well as her age I would certainly recommend speaking with you GP and requesting a referral to a continence specialist. Children who are particularly frequent wetters are less likely to be able to achieve nighttime continence without some support or intervention. In the meantime you can certainly support her by reminding her that none of this is her fault, try reducing pressure on her bladder by reducing the amount of water she drinks in the evening, and avoiding things like chocolate that have a diuretic effect.Kind Regards,Dr Cathrine
