I have wet my bed for so long and my parents have taken me to doctors as a child, eventually I stopped as I was getting older but when I get my period it causes me to wet the bed again. Please help I don't know how to stop it, I don't want to go back to wearing nappies as they cause me to not be motivated

It is not unusual for individuals who have taken longer to achieve nighttime continence to experience a return to bedwetting at times of stress. While I am unaware of any direct link between menstruation and bedwetting, it would certainly be worth following this up with your GP. Nighttime wetting occurs when your bladder is unable to store the amount of urine you produce overnight. If you experience bloating during your period or you sleep more soundly - this may contribute to a return to bedwetting. If you have noted a pattern then it may be worthwhile reintroducing the bedwetting alarm just for the period you are menstruating, this way you can avoid the reintroduction of DryNites. Alternatively you could also use the DryNites bed mats to help protect your sheets. All the best! Regards, Dr Cathrine
